CINCINNATI (WCCO-TV) - A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty today to charges of illegally selling and marketing counterfeit versions of the anti-impotence drug Viagra.

The Food and Drug Administration said on Friday that a Pennsylvania man was sentenced to 20 months of unpaid probation and a fine of $5 million.

The FDA said in a release that the defendant sold a counterfeit version of the drug to customers, and the company received a $1,000 fine.

The FDA also said in a release that the drug maker offered to pay for a counterfeit version of the drug if it was not covered by insurance.

A criminal complaint against Cincinetown Corp. said the seller falsely represented the drug was counterfeit and said the pills were made in China.

Cincinetown was also accused of illegally selling the drug online.

A search warrant at Cincinetown was executed in July 2016.

Cincinetown Corp. is accused of selling Viagra, the active ingredient in the erectile dysfunction drug that was discovered in the Cincinetown sexual enhancement pills. Viagra is a brand-name version of the drug, known generically as sildenafil.

In February 2012, Cincinetown agreed to sell Viagra under the brand name Cialis and the generic version, Viagra, in the United States. Viagra was approved by the FDA in May 1998.
